Toni Kroos: “Hazard doesn’t deserve pity and I don’t feel sorry for him”

Eden Hazard’s poor condition at Real Madrid, with no sign of things getting better, has been the subject of a report on Belgian television.
A team from Eleven Belgium traveled to Madrid to speak with several players in Real Madrid’s first team, including Toni Kroos, who left some less-than-flattering phrases when asked if he felt sorry for the Belgian player’s situation.
Toni Kroos said: “Empathy has no place in football. I don’t think Hazard’s life is bad. You can empathize with people who are clearly in a worse situation.”
He added, “It is not about money, I have never felt sorry for anyone in the field of football. Of course, the situation has been difficult for a long time, but after all, each person is to some extent responsible for his situation. This is why I think pity is misplaced.”
He continued, “I know Eden very well, and we talk a lot, but I only sympathize with people who are in very bad situations, and Eden is not one of them.”
In the same report, coach Carlo Ancelotti also responded to the Belgian journalists: “It is a rather complicated situation, because Hazard deserves to play because of his quality, but he is a big team and there is competition. I’m not here to give minutes to players, but for Real Madrid to win matches.”
When asked about the striker’s salary, the Italian said: “I do not put the formations based on age or what the players earn, and I do not know what Hazard earns. I set the formations so that Real Madrid can win matches.”
