Guardiola talks about coaching Real Madrid to win the Champions League

Pep Guardiola, Manchester City coach, confirmed that his period in the English team will be judged based on his results in the Champions League specifically.

Since his arrival in 2016, Guardiola and his team have not missed the quarter-finals of the Champions League since his first season, when he was eliminated by Monaco in the round of 16. Since then, they have run five straight quarter-final matches and could add another game this Tuesday if they beat Leipzig in the second leg of the round of 16.

Guardiola responded when asked if his time in Manchester would be judged by his successes in the Champions League, as he reached the 2021 final, which he lost to Chelsea, and the semi-finals last year, when he was eliminated by Real Madrid.

And the Spanish coach added, who won with Manchester City more than ten titles, including four of the last five Premier League titles.

He said: “Since the first day I arrived here they told me I was coming to win the Champions League. If I were Real Madrid coach, which is not going to happen, I would understand that. But here… I don’t know.”

In this season, City is still alive in the English Premier League in second place, five points behind Arsenal, and in the FA Cup, where they reached the quarter-finals, and play in the round of 16 of the Champions League.
