Ancelotti explains the main reason for Real Madrid’s defeat against Barcelona

Real Madrid suffered a painful defeat against Barcelona with two goals to one in the match that was held between them on Sunday evening at Camp Nou in the twenty-sixth round of the Spanish Premier League competitions.

After this victory, Barcelona raised its score to 68 points, leading the competition standings, 12 points behind Real Madrid, who finished in second place with 56 points.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Ancelotti explained the main reason for the defeat:

The Italian coach said: “We are sad, but we are proud of the match we played today. There is often some anxiety involved in planning such matches. If we play like today, we will win something at the end of the season.”

He added, “We will play the remaining matches to the fullest extent, like today. The line-up hasn’t changed, but individual characteristics do take their toll. Nacho had a yellow card and Mendy entered. Rodrigo came in as a substitute for Kroos to put more offensive energy.

On changing the entire midfield, he said: “I changed the three midfielders to put more energy into the game. Nothing new mentioned. The changes gave a good boost and we thought we were going to win the game.”

And about the end of the dream of winning La Liga: “The priority is to prepare well for all the remaining matches. This is what will make us finish the season well. I leave this match very proud of my team. The match was very good. The changes were very good and we will fight until the end of all competitions with great confidence.”

And about Vinicius’s performance: “He played a great match, given the quality of Araujo. He has faced Araujo many times and won many duels. As always, he is on top.”

And on the main reason for the defeat: “This offside in Asensio’s canceled goal is not entirely clear. I have doubts about canceling this target. We lost the match because of that.”
