Mbappe issues a strongly worded official statement against PSG: “It’s not Kylian Saint Germain”

On Thursday, Kylian Mbappe denounced Paris Saint-Germain’s use of videos and photos of him in their new advertising campaign for season tickets for the next season 2023-2024.

The Paris Saint-Germain striker said he would fight for the cause of “individual image rights” after the club used an interview with him in a video to promote ticket sales for next season.

Mbappe said in an official statement, which he posted on his Instagram account: “I was not informed at any time of the content of the interview. It sounded like a key interview during a marketing day at the club. I do not approve of this posted video.”

He added, “This is why I am fighting for the rights to the single image. Paris Saint-Germain is a big club and a big family, but it’s definitely not Kylian Saint-Germain”.

France captain Mbappe was the only player to speak in the season ticket promotional video. Nor was Lionel Messi, who a source told AFP earlier this week was set to leave PSG at the end of this season.

Mbappe has previously advocated individual image rights for players while on national duty with France. Paris Saint-Germain has not commented on Mbappe’s statements yet.
