Guardiola reveals the most prominent candidate to win the Champions League this season
Spain’s Pep Guardiola, coach of English club Manchester City, spoke about the most prominent candidate to win the European Champions League this season 2022/2023 and his team’s chances of winning it as well.
Manchester City reached the final of the Champions League last season, but lost the title to Chelsea, and in the last version was eliminated in the semi-finals by Real Madrid.
This season, City drew with Leipzig in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 and will face the German team in the second leg next Tuesday, hoping to book a ticket to the quarter-finals.
Guardiola won the European Champions League twice with Barcelona, but then he did not succeed in lifting that cup with the clubs he trained after his departure from the Catalan team: Bayern Munich and Manchester City.
In a brief interview with BN Sport, Guardiola talked about Manchester City’s chances of winning the Champions League this season, saying: “I don’t know if this is our time to win the Champions League. I wish I could say yes, but I don’t know and no one really knows.”
He added, “But if you ask me who is the candidate to win the Champions League this year, I will say Real Madrid because it always wins. But we’ve been to the final before, semi-finals, and now we’ll try again but I really don’t know.
